Mission Statement

Women and Gender eXpansive Coders DC envisions a community where women and non-binary members feel empowered to express their learnings, share their experiences, and feel safe in bringing their unique visions to events. We seek to foster growth in technical skills, career opportunities, and friendship through virtual and in-person meetings. All people are welcome to attend our events and support our members as they grow in their technology careers.

Code of Conduct

Women and Gender eXpansive Coders DC aims to provide a safe place physically and virtually for our community. If any person is disruptive, rude, harasses or otherwise negatively impacts the community, they may be removed from an ongoing event, future events, and community as a whole based on the severity of the interaction.

We ask that all people who attend the events conduct themselves in a professional manner and treat other attendees with respect. If anyone has a concern, experiences or observes harassment, or has a negative interaction with another attendee, please reach out to an organizer of the event in progress, or after an event via email (organizers@wgxcodersdc.org) or Slack.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to offensive verbal/electronic comments related to personal characteristics or choices, sexual images or comments in public or online spaces, deliberate intimidation, bullying, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks, Slack chats, electronic meetings, physical meetings or other events, inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing or bullying behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Empowering Women and Non-binary Voices

Women and Gender eXpansive Coders DC events are primarily intended to create an empowering and supportive space for women and non-binary individuals to find community, learn new technical concepts, and expand their coding and technical skills. We welcome allies, but we ask that they remain mindful of the events’ focus in creating an inclusive environment where women and non-binary participants can connect and fully express themselves.
