Our Mission

Women and Gender eXpansive Coders DC envisions a community where women and non-binary members feel empowered to express their learnings, share their experiences, and feel safe in bringing their unique visions to events. We seek to foster growth in technical skills, career opportunities, and friendship through virtual and in-person meetings.

Our Impact

What We Do

WGXC DC hosts a mix of events designed to build skills and community:

• Technical workshops and training (approximately two-thirds of our events) — led by both internal community members and external experts, covering a range of technologies and career topics.
• Networking and partner events (approximately one-third of our events) — casual gatherings and collaborative events with partner organizations like Women in Agile DC.

How Your Donation Is Used

As a volunteer-run nonprofit, we keep overhead low and direct funds where they matter most:

• Organizational costs — tax filings, state registrations, and essential expenses that keep our community running smoothly, such as platform subscriptions (e.g., Meetup).
• Food and refreshments at events — providing light refreshments drives significantly higher attendance and fosters a welcoming atmosphere.
• Event spaces — while many venues are donated by community partners (hosts may deduct usage as an in-kind contribution), some events require rented space.

2026 Goals

• Continue to grow our Meetup community
• Enable us to consistently have 2 or more events per month, with a goal of 24 sessions by end of year!
• Expand partnerships with other DC-area tech communities
